Description

Tennessee justice center leading the charge to insure our kids - tennessee justice center, INC., a nonprofit organization, will lead outreach and enrollment efforts statewide to enroll eligible children, parents, and pregnant people in medicaid and chip. As a new healthy kids connecting kids to coverage outreach and enrollment program grantee, TJC will build upon its previously launched insure our kids campaign with 45 existing partners to increase the number of insured individuals by raising awareness about the availability of free or low-cost health insurance and providing enrollment assistance. Recognizing that children are more likely to be covered when their parents have coverage, TJC will use a two-generation approach to reach families, educate them about the importance of health insurance, and help them apply or renew coverage. TJC has over 25 years of experience helping tennesseans to navigate public insurance programs to get enrolled or access medically necessary services. TJC will apply its knowledge and award-winning tool (askjane!) to reliably determine individuals' eligibility before applying and track their application and enrollment status through the tenncare eligibility determination system (teds). TJC will leverage its extensive partnerships with healthcare providers, food banks, schools, churches, childcare agencies, and other community-based organizations to reach uninsured people, particularly in underserved rural areas, immigrant communities, and communities of color. TJC will focus on helping enrollees retain coverage once the public health emergency ends by contacting the thousands of clients IT has served over the years and by partnering with healthcare providers to conduct a direct mail campaign targeting their patients who have medicaid or chip coverage. TJC will reach uninsured individuals through school-based, community-based, and healthcare provider-based outreach by sharing information at events and coalition meetings. TJC will conduct themed social media campaigns and connect with its 22,000 followers and others through targeted paid advertisements. The project goals for insure our kids are to submit 1,390 total applications for children, parents, and pregnant people; newly enroll 556 individuals; and renew coverage for 556 individuals over the three-year project with a total budget of $1,106,754. The funds will be used to cover staff, travel, printing and postage, supplies, incentives to distribute at events, and social media advertisements.
