The Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service awarded a Cooperative Agreement totaling $237,100 to the Executive Office of the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Department of Agriculture, on September 30, 2025, under the Micro-Grants for Food Security Program (CFDA 10.179). The award runs through September 29, 2029, and supports performance in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Micro-Grants for Food Security Program purpose is to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food through small-scale gardening, herding, and livestock operations in food-insecure communities. The recipient, as an eligible territorial agricultural agency, conducts a competitive subaward process to distribute funds to eligible sub-recipients including individuals, tribal organizations, faith-based organizations, food banks, food pantries, nonprofits, federally funded educational facilities, and local governments. Subawards must support activities that increase locally grown food availability for food-insecure individuals, families, and communities within the territory.
