Description
The first reports of SLF in japan were made in 2009 in the ishikawa prefecture, and since the pest has recently been found in the osaka and okayama prefectures. However, unlike in the united states, the populations in japan are spreading very slowly, are not causing significant damage to crops, and IT is not considered an important pest. Work plans include an initial survey to quantify the distribution and mortality factors affecting SLF in japan as this will provide information for methods that can potentially be employed in the united states to better control populations of SLF.
