About this award

The United States Pharmacopeial Convention, Inc. (USP) received a $100,000 Cooperative Agreement from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under the Congressional Directives program (CFDA 93.493), awarded on September 22, 2025, with a completion date of September 21, 2026. Under this agreement, USP will develop and complete Medicare Model Guidelines (MMG) Version 10.0, continuing a longstanding collaborative effort mandated by the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003. This updated guideline version will support CMS's mission to provide high-quality, cost-effective care to Medicare beneficiaries.

USP's deliverable represents the continuation of a triennial review process, building upon previously completed versions 8.0 and 9.0 of the MMG. The organization will leverage its expertise as an independent, science-based public health entity that sets standards for the identity, quality, and safety of medicines and related products. The completed MMG Version 10.0 will serve as a critical tool for CMS in establishing and maintaining pharmaceutical standards and guidelines applicable to Medicare prescription drug programs.
