THROUGH THIS PROJECT, THE TEXAS JUVENILE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT (TJJD), IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MEADOWS MENTAL HEALTH POLICY INSTITUTE (MMHPI), WILL REDUCE YOUTH INCARCERATION RATES AND EXPAND ACCESS TO EVIDENCE-BASED SERVICES BY STRENGTHENING EQUITABLE, COMMUNITY-BASED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT ACROSS TEXAS. OVER 18 INTENSIVE MONTHS, THE COLLABORATIVE FORMED THROUGH THIS PROJECT WILL THOROUGHLY ASSESS RESOURCES, PINPOINT SERVICE GAPS, AND DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE, CUSTOMIZABLE CONTINUUM OF CARE MODEL. GOALS ARE TO INCREASE THE AVAILABILITY OF EFFECTIVE DIVERSION PROGRAMS, FOSTER SEAMLESS CROSS-SYSTEM COORDINATION, ADDRESS ROOT CAUSES OF CONFINEMENT AND RACIAL DISPARITIES EARLY, AND PROVIDE A GRADUATED RESPONSE TO EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY MEET YOUTH NEEDS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
