Description
The arizona criminal justice commission (ACJC) will use funds to address problems dealing with criminal history updates and automation of records, records backlog, disposition backlog, criminal history record capture procedures, and sharing of criminal history information. Multiple agencies have proposed using technology to provide much-needed solutions for information sharing, criminal history reporting, and the reduction of records/disposition backlogs. The arizona department of public safety (DPS), maricopa county attorneys office, coconino county attorneys office, lake havasu city justice court, lake havasu city municipal court, and pinal county sheriffs office request to use nchip funds to positions to work on disposition backlogs. DPS requests funds to purchase a livescan to automate the fingerprinting process, and buckeye police department requests funds to purchase a rapid DNA machine to process DNA tests for the west valley. Maricopa county attorneys office and pinal county sheriffs office request funds to digitize their criminal history records to preserve and easily retrieve, continue with the collection of data, and maintain operational effectiveness.
