Description
The national center for policing innovation (ncpi) will use FY24 CPD invitational funding forcontinued delivery of the crisis intervention teams adaptive system of supports for implementation and specialized training (CIT assist). CIT assist continuation is a national initiative designed to increase the capacity of law enforcement agencies nationwide to effectively create or enhance crisis intervention teams (cits). This national program leverages the success, infrastructure, resources, and participants of an existing national TTA program (CIT assist), the national training and technical assistance (TTA) program expertise of ncpi, and the subject-matter expertise of the CIT assist national advisory board, a group of 24 CIT subject-matter experts (smes) and practitioners representing law enforcement, mental health, and advocacy organizations among 16 states. This proposal supports the CIT assist community of practice (COP comprised of nearly 100 CIT cohort agencies and the 2024 promoting access to crisis teams agencies); provides approximately 80 hours of direct and customizable technical assistance; supports the continued delivery of the CIT assist online resource center and the COP community forum; quarterly, virtual meetings/topic discussions; and promotion of program resources.
