Description

The U.S. Department of justice, office of community oriented policing services (cops office) has committed to the critical response program, an effort to provide targeted, technical assistance to law enforcement agencies experiencing high-profile events, major incidents, or sensitive issues of varying need. This project will focus on the goals of the collaborative reform initiative to produce an impact that is quality-driven, evidence-based, accessible, and memorable. For the critical response project, jensen hughes and its deep team of experts in law enforcement operations, community engagement, officer safety and wellness, use of force, crisis and emergency management and response, and threat and trauma support will provide participating law enforcement agencies with highly customizable support across three core areas. These are (1) immediate deliveries of technical assistance, such as facilitating peer-to-peer discussions, information exchanges, community outreach and engagement efforts, and training delivery facilitations; (2) data analyses, such as traffic stop and arrest disparity reviews or internal discipline disparity reviews; and (3) after-action reviews, including reviews of agency responses to events such as active shooter crises. Vital partners in this project will include agency command staff and rank-and-file members; community organizations and leaders; community members directly and indirectly affected; local administrative and political representatives; and, when appropriate, other local agencies such as fire departments and emergency management offices. Jensen hughes will conduct extensive outreach to police officers and community members alike to share their unique perspectives and experiences.
