Description

For each of the two forums, perf will produce practitioner-friendly briefs that will capture the challenges and successful approaches discussed within each meeting, supplemented with additional research to present a comprehensive picture of the subject discussed. The cops office and perf will collaborate to identify an emerging issue affecting law enforcement at the time. Perf will work with the cops office to determine the number of attendees and, if appropriate, allow for limited virtual participation and/or audience. The forums target participants would be law enforcement executives; other champions of change in agencies; community leaders and stakeholders at the national and local levels; experts in community-police relations; DOJ representatives; and other experts who can help inform the work. The meeting briefs will be written as a practitioner-friendly summary, including infographics and links to additional resources. Perf will utilize the following steps: 1) conduct pre-meeting research to identify the key issues; 2) plan and host a forum to discuss the topic with stakeholders; 3) document meeting findings and conduct follow-up work; and 4) produce a practitioner-friendly publication detailing the results of the work and disseminate the brief to law enforcement leaders and other stakeholders. IT is perf's hope that the forum and publication may expand the knowledge of the field on concrete strategies for responding to these emerging issues and thereby assist agencies from across the country in addressing theseissues, helping the agencies and their communities. This effort will assist agencies across the country in continuing to integrate community policing into their philosophy and everydayoperations.
