Environmental Protection Agency Region 10 awarded a $2 million Cooperative Agreement to Port of Tacoma on December 1, 2025, under the Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.818) to remediate Parcel 132 at the Port of Tacoma.
The recipient will conduct remediation activities on the brownfield site authorized under CERCLA 104(k)(3), competitively procure and direct a qualified environmental professional to perform environmental site activities, create a community involvement plan and administrative record, and report interim progress and final accomplishments through EPA's Assessment, Cleanup and Redevelopment Exchange System (ACRES). The Port anticipates holding multiple community meetings, finalizing one analysis of brownfield cleanup alternatives, and submitting 16 quarterly reports through the period of performance ending November 30, 2029.
Performance takes place in Tacoma, Washington. The funding supports cleanup of one brownfield site and will benefit residents, business owners, and stakeholders in and near Parcel 132. No subawards are included in this assistance agreement. This award was funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
