ACTIVITIES:THIS PROJECT WILL TRAIN GRADUATES TO EARN SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO ENTER INTO ENVIRONMENTAL CAREERS. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE TRAINING TO RESIDENTS OF THE SEVEN CONTIGUOUS COUNTIES IN OREGON (POLK, MARION, LINN, BENTON, CROOK, JEFFERSON, DESCHUTES). THE CENTRAL OREGON TRAINING CENTER IS WITHIN A ONE-HOUR COMMUTE FOR STUDENTS IN CROOK, DESCHUTES, AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES, WHILE THE MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY TRAINING CENTER SERVES STUDENTS PRIMARILY FROM LINN, BENTON, POLK, AND MARION COUNTIES WITHIN A ONE-HOUR COMMUTE. THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE: TWO TRAINING ACADEMIES COMPRISED OF 30 STUDENTS EACH (FOR A TOTAL OF 60 STUDENTS), RECRUITED, TRAINED, CERTIFIED, AND PLACED IN ENVIRONMENTAL CAREERS IN COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE SITES AND FACILITIES. 60 - OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 40HR HAZWOPER 60 - FORKLIFT OPERATOR 40 - OSHA 10 40 - FIRST AID/CPR/AED FOR CONSTRUCTION 40 - HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 40 - LEAD RENOVATION, REPAIR, AND PAINTING [RRP] 6 - COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSES [CDL] EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND BENEFICIARIES FROM THIS PROJECT INCLUDE: ADEQUATE TRAINING OF PERSONNEL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT, CLEANUP, AND REMEDIATION EFFORT THAT IS PARAMOUNT TO RURAL OREGON'S ABILITY TO EFFICIENTLY ADDRESS BROWNFIELDS AND REVITALIZE THEIR COMMUNITIES. INCREASED ABILITY TO SUPPORT LOCAL RURAL WORKFORCES AND REVITALIZE BROWNFIELDS WILL RESULT IN BETTER ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP OUTCOMES AND PREVENTION OF ADDITIONAL BROWNFIELDS. TRAINEES WILL UNDERSTAND HOW TO IDENTIFY CONTAMINATION, MOVE AND STABILIZE SOIL, AND PROTECT GROUNDWATER DURING CONSTRUCTION AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATION WITH ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY METHODS.
