The Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 awarded a $500,000 cooperative agreement to the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council under the Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.818). The funding will support assessment-related activities authorized under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act Section 104(k)(2) in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach counties in Florida from July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2026.
Specifically, the recipient will conduct eight Phase I and ten Phase II environmental site assessments, hold four community meetings, develop nine site-specific cleanup plans/analyses of brownfield cleanup alternatives, and develop three planning documents to initiate brownfields revitalization. The recipient will also submit sixteen quarterly reports on interim progress and final accomplishments using EPA's ACRES system. The work funded under this cooperative agreement aims to benefit residents, business owners, and communities affected by brownfields in the target Florida counties.
