THIS AGREEMENT WILL PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF AUSTIN AND COALITION PARTNERS TO INVENTORY, CHARACTERIZE, ASSESS, AND CONDUCT CLEANUP PLANNING AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT RELATED ACTIVITIES FOR BROWNFIELD SITES IN AUSTIN, TEXAS. GRANT FUNDS WILL BE USED TO CONDUCT 24 PHASE I AND 10 PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS, 10 REGULATED BUILDING MATERIAL SURVEYS AND PREPARE TEN CLEANUP PLANS. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL OCCUR IN EAST AUSTIN WITH THE GOAL OF PUTTING BLIGHTED SITES IN THE URBAN CORE BACK TO PRODUCTIVE REUSE--SPECIFICALLY AFFORDABLE HOUSING, BUSINESSES, URBAN GARDENS AND PARKS. BROWNFIELDS ARE REAL PROPERTY, THE EXPANSION, DEVELOPMENT OR REUSE OF WHICH MAY BE COMPLICATED BY THE PRESENCE OR POTENTIAL PRESENCE OF A HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE, POLLUTANT, OR CONTAMINANT.
