DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO CITY OF CRES HILL TO IMPLEMENT ITS CORROSION CONTROL TREATMENT STUDY PROJECT AS DIRECTED IN THE 2024 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT OR AS IDENTIFIED IN AN APPROVED TECHNICAL CORRECTION IF ONE HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THIS PROJECT. ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED INCLUDE THE COMPLETION OF AN OPTIMAL CORROSION CONTROL TREATMENT (OCCT) STUDY FOR THE CITY OF CREST HILL. THE CORROSION STUDY WILL EXAMINE HOW THE NEW LAKE MICHIGAN WATER SUPPLY WILL INTERACT WITH THE CITY'S EXISTING WATER INFRASTRUCTURE. THE STUDY IS LOOKING SPECIFICALLY AT LEVELS OF COPPER AND LEAD IN THE EXISTING PIPES AND HOW THE PIPES WILL REACT WHEN THE CITY SWITCHES ITS DRINKING WATER SOURCE FROM WELLS TO THE NEW LAKE MICHIGAN WATER SUPPLY. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES INCLUDE A COMPLETED CORROSION CONTROL TREATMENT STUDY AND TEST RESULTS THAT WILL PROVIDE THE CITY INFORMATION ON HOW THE WATER TRANSMISSION LINES REACTED TO THE NEW WATER SUPPLY AS WELL AS ANY RECOMMENDED TREATMENTS THAT WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE SAFE DRINKING WATER. THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES INCLUDE A REDUCED RISK OF HUMAN HEALTH IMPACTS RESULTING FROM THE CHANGE IN WATER SOURCE AS WELL AS IMPROVED WATER QUALITY. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF CREST HILL.
