DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO CITY OF VIROQUA, WI TO IMPLEMENT ITS PROJECT TO EXTEND AND REPLACE PARTS OF ITS SEWER SYSTEM AS DIRECTED IN THE 2023 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT OR AS IDENTIFIED IN AN APPROVED TECHNICAL CORRECTION IF ONE HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THIS PROJECT.ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED ARE EXTENDING THE SEWER TO UNSERVED AREAS THAT CURRENTLY USE SEPTIC TANKS. EXTENDING THE SEWER WILL REDUCE RELIANCE ON SEPTIC TANKS AND THUS PROTECT THE AREA'S DRINKING WATER SUPPLY AND ENVIRONMENT. THE PROJECT WILL ALSO INVOLVE REPLACING A SEWER LINE THAT CURRENTLY RUNS THROUGH AN OLD LANDFILL AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED DURING AN EMERGENCY. PRESENTLY, IF THE LINE FAILED, AN OVERLAND BYPASS WOULD BE CONSTRUCTED WHICH WOULD POSE A SIGNIFICANT RISK TO THE HUMAN HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE EXTENDED SEWER LINES AND THE REPLACEMENT OF AN OLD SEWER LINE WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO LEAD TO INCREASED WATER SUPPLY SECURITY FOR THE CITY, ITS RESIDENTS, AND ENVIRONMENT.
