This $599,668 cooperative agreement from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 will fund cleanup activities at a brownfield site in Girard, Ohio. Under the Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA #66.818), the City of Girard will remediate the former Leatherworks property by removing contaminated soil and replacing it with clean fill. Institutional and engineering controls will also be established. Once remediated, the 1052 North State Street site will be redeveloped for commercial office space and greenspace.
