Description

This agreement provides funding to the town of royalton (VT) fire district #1 to implement its project to install a new 500,000-gallon water storage tank and for the repair of two existing water filtration units and the installation of one new water filtration unit as directed in the 2023 consolidated appropriations act or as identified in an approved technical correction if one has been approved for this project.activities:the activities to be performed are the purchase and installation of a new 500,000-gallon water storage tank, the repair of two existing water filtration units and the installation of one new water filtration unit.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:the anticipated deliverables relate to the goal of clean potable water for the district customers, which will be better assured with the upgrading of the existing water filters and the installation of a third filter. Upgrading the existing filters extends the life of the equipment and installing a third filter means that the district will always have adequate filtration ability even if one filter system is down for maintenance, repairs or for catastrophic reasons. Water storage of treated (filter water) insures a continuous supply with a 500,000 gallon capacity providing a 10-day supply should production be disrupted for any reason. Having a new third filter gives US peace of mind to be able to have two filters running at any given time. This will enable the district to meet day-to-day and peak needs of between 50,000 and 100,000 gallons daily. Another important outcome is the expanded water storage provided by the new 180,000-gallon water tank which provides back up for potable water for the community, as well as adding capacity in support of the hydrants for fire protection within the fire district.
