DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO THE TOWN OF OLD ORCHARD BEACH TO IMPLEMENT ITS PROJECT TO WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITIES UPGRADES AS DIRECTED IN THE 2022 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT OR AS IDENTIFIED IN AN APPROVED TECHNICAL CORRECTION IF ONE HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THIS PROJECT.ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED ARE REPLACING SECTIONS OF EXISTING SANITARY SEWER WITH SLOPING ISSUES WITH NEW 15-INCH SANITARY SEWER AND ASSOCIATED MANHOLE STRUCTURES TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE CAPACITY FOR THE WALNUT STREET SANITARY SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM. THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE REMOVAL OF 350 LINEAR FEET OF EXISTING ASBESTOS CONCRETE GRAVITY SEWER PIPES, REMOVAL OF TWO EXISTING 4 FOOT DIAMETER SANITARY SEWER MANHOLES, INSTALLATION AND TESTING OF 540 LINEAR FEET OF 15-INCH GRAVITY SEWER PIPING, INSTALLATION OF TWO 4-INCH DIAMETER SANITARY SEWER MANHOLES, AND INSTALLATION OF 85 LINEAR FEEL OF 6-INCH FORCE MAIN AT THE MILLIKEN PUMP STATION SITE.SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE REPLACEMENT OF EXISTING GRAVITY SEWER PIPE WILL PROVIDE INCREASED SEWER CAPACITY BY APPROXIMATELY 1,000 GALLONS PER MINUTE TO THE REQUIRED SEWER CAPACITY FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE FLOW REQUIREMENTS, WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO LEAD TO INCREASED SEWER CAPACITY FOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS WITHIN THE AREA AND WILL MITIGATE POTENTIAL SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOWS (SSOS) WHICH THE SEWER IS CURRENTLY AT RISK FOR DUE TO ITS CURRENT CONDITION AND CAPACITY FOR THE CITIZENS OF OLD ORCHARD BEACH, MAINE.
