DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO THE TOWN OF MEDWAY, MASSACHUSETTS TO IMPLEMENT ITS PROJECT FOR THE CIVIL, SITE, AND CONCRETE WORK ASSOCIATED WITH THE CENTRAL WATER TREATMENT FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AS DIRECTED IN THE 2022 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT OR AS IDENTIFIED IN AN APPROVED TECHNICAL CORRECTION IF ONE HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THIS PROJECT.ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED ARE THE CIVIL AND SITE WORK AND CONCRETE WORK ASSOCIATED WITH THE DRINKING WATER TREATMENT PLANT. THE TREATMENT PLANT WILL REMOVE IRON AND MANGANESE FROM THREE WELL SOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY, UTILIZING A GREENSANDPLUS TM PRESSURE FILTRATION SYSTEM AND CHEMICAL ADDITION. THE CONSTRUCTION INCLUDES FEATURES ALLOWING FOR EASY ADDITION OF TREATMENT SYSTEMS FOR FUTURE PFAS TREATMENT EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING PROVISIONAL SPACE FOR EQUIPMENT, AND ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT AND CONTROLS. THE CIVIL AND SITE WORK INCLUDES DEMOLITION FOR A WALL AND GARAGE THAT WERE ON SITE, EARTHWORK AND EXCAVATION OF THE SITE, DUCTILE PIPING AND FITTINGS (BURIED APPLICATIONS), AND CONCRETE IN PLACE CONCRETE FOR FOOTINGS, SLABS, INTERIOR WALLS AND EXTERIOR WALLS.SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE A NEW DRINKING WATER TREATMENT PLANT, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO LEAD TO SAFER DRINKING WATER WITH TREATMENT REMOVING IRON AND MANGANESE FROM THREE WELL SOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN OF MEDWAY.
