DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO THE TOWN OF BETHEL, CT TO IMPLEMENT ITS PROJECT TO INSTALL A NEW PUBLIC DRINKING WATER SOURCE AND TREATMENT FACILITY AS DIRECTED IN THE 2022 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT.ACTIVITIES:THE SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED ARE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW 800 GALLON PER MINUTE DRINKING WATER WELL AND TREATMENT BUILDING, LOW PRESSURE FILTRATION SYSTEM, BACKWASH AND RECYCLE BACKWASH SYSTEMS, CHEMICAL TREATMENT SYSTEMS, ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION EQUIPMENT, BACKUP EMERGENCY GENERATOR, FINISHED WATER MAIN AND SANITARY FORCE MAINS. THE PROJECT WILL RESULT IN A NEW PUBLIC DRINKING WATER SOURCE THAT WILL ALLOW SIGNIFICANT OPERATIONAL FLEXIBILITY TO IMPROVE THE ABILITY OF THE BETHEL WATER DEPARTMENT TO MEET ITS CURRENT AND FUTURE DEMAND.SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW DRINKING WATER SOURCE AND TREATMENT PLANT WHICH IS EXPECTED TO LEAD TO IMPROVED WATER QUALITY AND ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY FOR THE TOWN'S RESIDENTS.
