The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families awarded $178,726.55 to the Ely Shoshone Tribe on October 1, 2025, under the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CFDA 93.575). The award period runs through September 30, 2028, and performance takes place in Nevada.
The Child Care and Development Block Grant provides funding to tribal lead agencies to deliver child care subsidies, primarily through vouchers or certificates, to families with low income, and to improve the quality of child care for all children. The Ely Shoshone Tribe, a federally recognized Native American tribe located in Ely, Nevada and doing business as Silver Sage Travel Center, serves as the recipient and designated lead agency accountable for use of the discretionary funds. The tribe must develop and submit a three-year CCDF plan containing certifications and assurances of compliance with CCDBG Act requirements, including policies and procedures for payment rates and sliding fee scales, and must hold at least one public hearing with at least 20 days of advance statewide public notice to allow public comment on child care service provision.
