The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families awarded Burns Paiute Tribe $101,838.57 under the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CFDA 93.575) on October 1, 2025.
The Child Care and Development Block Grant provides block grant funding to states, territories, and tribes to subsidize child care for families with low income and to improve child care quality. The tribe will serve as a lead agency and must submit a three-year Child Care and Development Fund plan detailing its intended use of block grant funds, policies and procedures, payment rates, and sliding fee scales in accordance with the CCDBG Act and implementing regulations.
The award period runs from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028. Performance takes place in Oregon.
Burns Paiute Tribe is a federally recognized tribe located in Harney County in rural eastern Oregon. As the recipient and lead agency, the tribe is accountable for the use of Discretionary funds and must hold at least one public hearing within the planning period, after 20 days of public notice, to allow the public to comment on child care service delivery under its plan. The tribe must also coordinate with other federal, state, and local child care and early childhood development programs and consult with appropriate local government representatives.
