The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awarded the State of Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing a Block Grant of $1.032 million under the Consultation Agreements program (CFDA 17.504), effective October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. This grant funds Iowa's occupational safety and health consultation program, which delivers no-cost, confidential on-site consultation services to small and medium-sized employers throughout the state. Iowa's designated consultation program provides workplace hazard identification, guidance on OSHA standards compliance, and technical assistance to help employers establish and improve occupational safety and health programs.
The consultation services operate independently from OSHA enforcement activities and do not result in citations or penalties, allowing employers to receive confidential advisory support. As a condition of the award, the State of Iowa is required to provide at least 10 percent matching funds to supplement federal support. The program prioritizes service delivery to smaller employers in high-hazard operations and maintains records in compliance with federal requirements for three years following grant closeout or final audit.
