The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families awarded the Florida Department of Commerce $11.864 million on October 1, 2025, under the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Infrastructure Supplement, a block grant supporting energy assistance for low-income households.
The award funds activities under CFDA 93.568, which assists eligible households with energy costs, energy crises, weatherization, and minor energy-related home repairs. Performance runs through September 30, 2027, with all work performed in Florida.
Block grants under LIHEAP are awarded following congressional appropriation and submission of a complete LIHEAP Model Plan by the recipient. The recipient must obtain public participation through inspection and comment on its proposed LIHEAP Plan and conduct public hearings on the proposed use and distribution of funds. Recipients and sub-recipients are responsible for obtaining audits in accordance with the Single Audit Act Amendments of 1996, conducted by independent auditors following generally accepted Government auditing standards.
