Description
These units will replace current units that are obsolete and are no longer serviced by the manufacturer. These units provide a less than lethal option for our officers to deploy in use of force situations. This will allow them a to use a tool to reduce the risk to themselves, others and suspects. This project will also allow US to purchase five new handheld breath test devices. These units will allow more of our officers to have access to these devices as they investigate incidents of impaired driving in floyd county. Impaired driving is one of the leading causes of fatal and serious injury crashes in the nation. Our goal to identify these drivers before a crash occurs. In recent years, in part due to our increased efforts, we have seen a decrease in fatal crashes in floyd county.
