Description
The nlpd proposes to use the BJA FY 24 edward byrne memorial justice assistance grant (JAG) program - local solicitation for essential crime scene processing equipment aims to enhance our investigative capabilities, particularly during low-light conditions, which are common in our line of work. The equipment will allow for more thorough and efficient investigations, ultimately improving public safety by reducing the time spent at crime scenes and delivering faster, more accurate results. Additionally, integrating advanced technology fosters trust in our departments ability to manage crime scenes effectively. Promotional items are also significant for community policing, as they build positive relationships and trust between law enforcement and community members. To improve crime scene processing, the requested equipment includes a tactical max ALS kit, rechargeable lights with flexible tripods, an 8000 lumen area light, a faro panoramic camera with its mount and status indicator, and cantonape car power converters, all of which will streamline operations and enhance overall effectiveness in critical investigations. This project once completed will align with this years JAG area of emphasis; crime analysis and investigation. The project will also align with the broad statutory program area; planning, evaluation, and technology improvement.child passenger safety is a critical public health issue, with motor vehicle crashes being one of the leading causes of injury and death among children. To combat this, our program aims to certify and empower two officers as child passenger safety technicians (CPST) by covering the class registration and covering overtime for officers to attend the course.
