Description
In 2023, georgia has remained committed to the continued prioritization of its vital law enforcement and public safety efforts in accordance with the following priorities: 1) drug prohibition and strategic planning efforts around the continuous rise of methamphetamine and opioid usage; 2) coordination of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies through the sharing of relevant crime and trend data; and 3) planning to determine the needs of local and state law enforcement. JAG program funding has greatly assisted georgia in its targeted combat of crime in a range of program areas, including law enforcement, prosecution, drug treatment and enforcement, crime victim, corrections, and reentry. Additionally, beginning last year, JAG program funding has allowed cjcc to devote one full time staff member to the strategic planning process and its ongoing evaluation. Tasked with facilitating the development of a comprehensive, statewide 5-year strategic plan, cjcc, with guidance from the national criminal justice association, is currently leveraging stakeholder partnerships to identify the states most critical criminal justice needs.
