Description
Pre-flight social support netwrok report the task consists of an evidence review consolidating the evidence on characterizing the role of social support networks during the pre-flight mission phase. This ultimately relates to the levels and type of support system needed for individuals in exploration-class spaceflight or analogous environments. This is a small-scale project expected to last 6-9 months. The work would include a review of evidence-based social support strategies during pre-mission phase for long duration spaceflight and analogous settings. In addition, the investigator will conduct of up to 10 operational assessment interviews with relevant NASA JSC personnel to further inform the review and to assess the current use of pre-flight social support. The final deliverables would be a final report with findings and recommendations for the direction and nature of work needed to be done in this area as well as a final presentation summarizing the project, findings and discussion with NASA participants. The vendor is encouraged to publish the report material as an article in a peer-reviewed journal in the appropriate field. The final report should include a summary of research recommendations. These recommendations should be listed in priority. Generally, the priority should follow the information gained in the evidence review and operational assessment. The rational for the priority should also be included. The results of this effort will help in planning and designing psychological support system requirements for missions. IT will also inform and possibly augment current ISS operations with the benefit of promoting the post-mission health of ISS crewmembers.
