Description
SAN angelo test facility water softening system purchase immediate purchase of a culligan CTM 150 duplex alternating water softener unit for replacement of a failed unit. The water treatment system is for treating water used on the SAN angelo test facility (SATF) traction test (SKID) pads. Large quantities of water are applied to the SKID surfaces during traction testing by the SATF test vehicle and the test vehicles of three outside test companies. Due to the extreme hardness of SAN angelo water, a mineral film builds up on the SKID surface. This layer of minerals becomes polished as the tires SKID across IT, causing the friction of the surfaces to decrease. Eventually the pads become out of spec and must be repaired or refurbished. Some lanes have reached this point and will be taken out of operation. Replacement of the water softener system has reached an urgent status for operation of the SATF test track. The water softener system method of treatment has proven, over the years of use, to help to keep the friction value of the pads consistent thus making test results more repeatable. The system will save money in the long run by prolonging the need to repair, refurbish, or replace the test surfaces. Totaling $8,500.00
