The Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management Alaska Region awarded a $146,623.47 firm fixed price purchase order contract to the Native Village of Tanacross, a Tribal Government, for a Tanacross Forest Stewardship Contract. The contract is for forest treatment services and commercial product biomass removal in the vicinity of the Village of Tanacross. The contract is not associated with a larger vehicle and does not have a set-aside designation. The intended purpose is to restore the natural forest condition, remove hazard trees, reduce stand densities, capture value from impacted trees, reduce hazardous fuel levels, and improve fire access to limit wildfire intensity and improve long-term forest health. The Native Village of Tanacross will benefit by using the removed biomass in their community's biomass heating system.
