The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) - Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center awarded a $41,710.28 firm fixed-price purchase order to Sonardyne, Inc., a foreign-owned, for-profit manufacturer, to acquire a Sonardyne Micro-Ranger 2 Nano underwater acoustic positioning system (USBL). This USBL system will be used to facilitate accurate positioning and tracking of equipment and divers in a subsea environment, enabling higher quality datasets for the Center's marine research activities. The contract is a total small business set-aside with a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 334511 and a size standard of 1,350 employees. Sonardyne, Inc. is recognized as a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and engineering of underwater acoustic positioning, inertial navigation, wireless communications, and sonar technology systems, and has previously provided various underwater acoustic equipment and services to other U.S. government agencies, including the Department of the Navy.
