The Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service awarded a $70,000 purchase order to Timberland Silvicultural Services, Inc. to procure and underplant oak seedlings at Chickasaw National Wildlife Refuge in Tennessee. Per the original solicitation, Timberland will acquire 106,000 Nuttall and Cherrybark oak seedlings and plant them at a density of approximately 303 seedlings per acre across 350 acres of mature bottomland hardwood forest from January to February 2024. The contract has a firm fixed price and is set aside for total small business. As the single source provider due to seedling availability, Timberland will fulfill the Fish and Wildlife Service's need to replenish the refuge's bottomland forests as part of its habitat restoration efforts.
