The National Institute of Standards and Technology awarded a purchase order to Attocube Systems GMBH for $155,872.80 on September 22, 2026, for procurement of a cryogenic, optical-accessible, magnetic-field-capable strain cell. Work is performed in Germany with completion scheduled for September 21, 2027. The strain cell integrates with NIST's existing attoDRY 2100 magneto-cryostat and spectroscopic instrumentation to enable optical measurements as a function of strain, temperature, magnetic field, and electrical bias. Minimum specifications include a 47 mm diameter universal stress/strain cell for micron-scale samples at cryogenic temperatures, low-noise 2-channel multiplexer, capacitance bridge, four-sample electrical contact mounting, dual-channel power supply, and compatibility with attocube measurement systems. The procurement originated from a combined sources-sought and notice-of-intent-to-award special notice posted August 26, 2026, due September 9, 2026, in which NIST identified Razorbill Instruments Limited as the sole capable source through preliminary market research.
