CBr4 Gas Delivery System
NIST's Acquisition Management Division is conducting a sources-sought market research exercise to identify vendors capable of supplying a CBr4 Gas Delivery System for carbon doping of MBE-grown devices, with responses due by June 15, 2026. This is not a request for quotation or proposal, and does not commit the government to award a contract.
NIST will evaluate responses to determine whether at least two qualified small businesses can meet the requirement specifications. If two or more small-business vendors are identified, the subsequent solicitation will be set aside for small business; however, NIST is actively seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large and small businesses of all sizes. The market research results will inform both the set-aside determination and the acquisition method.
NIST is specifically identifying potential U.S. manufacturers of the CBr4 Gas Delivery System prior to solicitation issuance. All small-business set-aside categories will be considered in the evaluation. Specifications are provided in the attached technical document (CBr4_Specifications.pdf, posted June 4, 2026).
Respondents should not expect payment for information submitted in response to this sources-sought notice. After analysis of market research responses, NIST may conduct a competitive or non-competitive procurement and award a contract through sam.gov.

Pre-Solicitation 1/2 6/4/26, 10:24 AM CBr4 Gas Delivery System
The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks procurement of one cryogenic CBr4 gas delivery system, with quotations due July 24, 2026. This is a total small business set-aside.
Place of performance is NIST's Boulder, Colorado facility (325 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80305). The system must deliver carbon tetrabromide gas for carbon doping in molecular beam epitaxy applications, compatible with VEECO GEN10 MBE systems and VEECO molly software. The system must achieve doping in the range of 1e16 cm³ to 1e20 cm³ in MBE-grown GaAs at 1 monolayer/second, maintain UHV compatibility, include heated injection lines to prevent condensation, and provide closed-loop pressure control with stability of less than 0.2 mTorr. The procured system must be an established commercial product with at least one operational unit already in the field; experimental or prototype items are unacceptable. It must be new (not refurbished) and covered by the original manufacturer's full warranty, with no gray market components. Delivery is required within 26 weeks after receipt of order, with acceptance expected within seven days of delivery. The vendor must provide on-site technician support for uncrating, unpackaging, and equipment setup, along with one-year manufacturer warranty covering parts and electronic manuals.
NAICS code is 334413, Semiconductor and Related Device Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees. PSC code is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. Award is made to the responsible offeror with the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable quote, evaluated on technical capability (acceptable/unacceptable basis) and price reasonableness. Quotations must include firm fixed pricing with all shipping and delivery fees, Net 30 payment terms, and identify country of origin and applicable tariffs if applicable. Offerors must maintain active SAM registration with completed representations and certifications.
