The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a civilian agency within the Department of Commerce, awarded a $18,306.19 fixed-price purchase order contract to Thomas & Skinner Inc., a certified HUBZone small business manufacturer, to produce custom tungsten alloy parts to be used as neutron beam stoppers at the NIST Center for Neutron Research. This award was made under a small business set-aside solicitation seeking two part numbers meeting specific engineering requirements. As a prime contractor and subcontractor experienced in manufacturing precision metal components, Thomas & Skinner Inc. will deliver the parts within 20 weeks to NIST's Gaithersburg, Maryland facility, where they will undergo inspection and testing prior to acceptance and final payment.
