Description
NASA is one of the founding organisations and a primary sponsor of the international ocean colour coordinating group (ioccg), an international non-governmental organisation established in 1996 to act as a liaison and communication channel between providers and users of ocean-colour data. Ioccg promotes strong international cooperation and coordination in the acquisition, distribution, calibration, validation and utilization of ocean-colour data from satellites launched by various nations. Ioccg is funded by a group of space agencies from different countries. The purpose of this grant would be to provide partial support for several ioccg activities, including annual ioccg meetings, several ioccg working groups, capacity building (regional training courses and the ioccg summer lecture series), and office costs (project scientist salary, costs of producing and mailing ioccg reports, web site maintenance and renewal audit).
