Description

Beyond the kuiper belt edge the kuiper belt is the DE-facto outer edge of the solar system, with the exception of one extremely unusual object, sedna. Sedna's closest approach as IT orbits the sun is a perihelion of 76 AU, far beyond the 30 AU - 50 AU region inhabited by over 1,000 known kuiper belt objects (kbos), neptune and pluto. Its extreme orbit is unlike any other bound solar system object as IT travels from 76 AU to nearly 1,000 AU, never venturing near the kuiper belt. We seek funding to discover more sedna-like objects using ground-based telescopes in order to determine the basic characteristics of this unusual population, which may rival the kbos in total numbers. The kbos are thought to be the most primitive bodies in the solar system due to their extreme distance. They may be remnants from the planet forming ERA that have been stored in an extremely cold (
