Description
The burlington technical center operates a post-high school training program that leads to FAA certification as an airframe and powerplant technician. These high skill high wage jobs are in high demand in the burlington area, nationally and internationally. The current program is only able to serve 12 students at one time in a semester format, under the facility limitations imposed by the FAA. The program is expanding rapidly, and is planning a move to a new facility. The purpose of this NASA-funded project is to support program operating expenses, enhance public exposure, and increase enrollment. Please refer to attached budget detail for a breakdown of project expenses. The benefits of the aviation technology training program are statewide, with all vermont students eligible to enroll. Employers from around vermont will be able to hire f.AA. Trained personnel, and the program currently provides local aviation industries with FAA certified technicians. This grant will effectively act as seed money to expand the program, and start additional units of instruction.
