Description
"student and teacher support services: math, science, and technology enrichment program" - EAA fully embraces NASA s objectives as outlined in its education portfolio strategic framework. To this end, EAA programs are designed to be relevant through the integration of NASA content, and the use of NASA s facilities and talent. The community served by EAA will serve to assist NASA in its aims to diversify the pool of qualified minority talent that will be available to move into technical and management positions within NASA. EAA continues to implement strict program evaluation criteria to ensure that its programs are lock step with NASA s goals and objectives. From year to year, EAA employs a strategy of continuous improvement so that continuity and consistency can be maintained throughout its programs. The long term goal for EAA is to establish a sustainable partnership with NASA to ensure that children from underrepresented groups will continue to benefit from EAA s programs and NASA s efforts to inspire, engage, educate and employ such talent to continue NASA s legacy of excellence and to ensure that the goal of employing a diversified workforce may be accomplished. EAA will continue to highlight and focus on assisting NASA in attaining its objectives for developing qualified professionals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through the implementation of programs that expose students to these areas. To this end, EAA will continue to solicit involvement and participation by NASA employees in its various programs. Given the wide array of activities, programs and careers available within the NASA organization, IT is especially important that students be afforded the opportunity to see and hear first hand from NASA employees of the career tracks available to properly educated and trained professionals. Invitations will be extended to a number of NASA experts to present this valuable information and 10 insight to program participants. Specifically, EAA will seek input and preferably appearances by current and former astronauts, astronomers, professional engineers, research scientists as well as other selected NASA professionals, based primarily on the interests of the participating students. Meaningful interaction with NASA employees will likewise be accomplished through visits to NASA facilities. While environments such as the national air and space museum offer exciting opportunities for students interested in stem careers, organized trips to actual NASA facilities such as the goddard space flight center as evidenced by students completed surveys and journals have left a positive impression on students and would likely motivate young students to pursue careers in these critical areas. Similarly, direct interaction with NASA employees in the NASA environment we believe have an immeasurable impact on the young people seeking information that will enable them to make critical career choices.
