Description

Great science online - physics is a new type of science course, taught online by a skilled high school physics teacher and designed by the experienced instructional designers at the center for educational technologies. The new course will incorporate NASA science and missions as examples, and will include engaging presentation of challenging and interesting content, hands-on and virtual experiments to understand measurement and analysis, mathematical modeling to explore concepts, continuing feedback, and a community to share learning experiences. Every lesson will include short video demonstrations and mini-lectures, online problems with instant feedback, and lab explorations. Online study chats between students and teaching assistants will provide opportunities for one-to-one and group questioning and discussions. The first course in the proposed great science online series is physics, because IT is the science with the fewest qualified teachers, and IT opens doors for students to become science, engineering, math and technology majors when entering college.
