Added: May 15, 2009 2:27 pm The U.S. Army RDECOM - Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street,Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army Natick Soldier ResearchDevelopment and Engineering Center, Natick, MA in support of ProductManager-Clothing and Individual Equipment utilizing utilize SimplifiedAcquisitions Procedures FAR 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items,has a requirement for Mountain Combat Boots for a commercial itemevaluation. The US Army requires Mountain Combat Boot (MCB) for use bySoldiers in the rugged mountainous terrain of current areas of operation.Proof of concept for this need has been demonstrated by numerous inquiriesby Soldiers to provide a hiking boot style footwear system incorporating newtechnology and materials replacing the outdated technology of the oldall-leather ski-march boot. Improved technology is available to provide theSoldier with added mission capability including enhanced ankle and footsupport, durability for the extreme environment s realized by Soldiers incurrent Areas of Operation, and weight reduction. Production DemonstrationModels (PDMs) shall be submitted for each submission. The governmentanticipates making multiple awards, but reserves the right to make one or noawards. This will be a full and open competitive award. This is not arequest for proposals (RFP). The Government intends to make multiple awardson a Firm-Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)contract as a result of the Request for Proposals (RFP). The Governmentanticipates a two year ordering period. The anticipated total minimumrequirement is 60 pairs with a maximum total requirement of 26,600 units.The successful offeror (s) will receive the first delivery order (DO) withthe minimum quantity (if there is more than one awardee, the quantity forthe first DO will be divided equally) mentioned above for the award.Comments relating to this synopsis should be submitted via email to NathanJordan at nathan.c.jordan@us.army.mil, no later than 29 May 2009 at 1000 edt.
