Description
TAR 6502 - tactical communications and protective system- 2013-LU-MTD-TCA00-F4246 abbreviated operational test report (aotr) - tcaps is a soldier enhancement program that shall provide dynamic hearing protection as well as communications capability and shall be provided incrementally as technology evolves. As an interim solution, soldiers were issued combat arms earplugs (CAE), which provide both linear and level-dependent hearing protection. In linear mode, the CAE provides protection against steady state noises (i.e. engine noise); however, in level-dependent mode, the CAE provides hearing protection against impulse noise (i.e. weapon fire or blasts). Tcaps shall allow soldiers to communicate in a noisy environment while providing hearing protection from both steady state and impulse noise.
