Synopsis for M8 Smoke Pot Metal Parts
Added: February 20, 2008 Headquarters, US Army Sustainment Command (ASC) has a requirement for the fabrication and delivery of various sheet metal parts which will be used for the M8 Smoke Pot, Practice (DODIC K511, NSN 1365-01-380-1678) production. The M8 is a burning type smoke pot used to generate white smoke. It has a thin sheet metal cylindrical body, 12 inches in diameter and 13.5 inches in height. It is filled with Terephthalic Acid (TA) and Pentaerytitol (PE) smoke mixture ignited by a starter mixture. The p roduction requirements for the M8 Smoke Pot components are approximately 1500 units per year for the next five years starting from FY 08 tu FY 12. These steel components include a double rolled seam can (or body); two lid (cover) assemblies with handles , a teaded fuze adapter, stamped plug closure, and metal clamp. For FY 08, a first article sample needs to be produced for government evaluation and approval by approximately March 2009 and delivery by June 2009. ASC intends to issue a Request for Prop osal, W52P1J-08-R-3022 to the Army Single Face to Industry (ASFI) Acquisition Business Website, http://acquisition.army.mil on or about March 7, 2008 with an opening date 30 days after issuance. This contract will be restricted as a small business set-asi de, NAICS code 332999 with a small business classification size of 500 employees or less. It is FOB Destination to Pine Bluff Arsenal, Pine Bluff Arkansas. Drawings for this technical data are Distribution X and available to only those firms certified an d registered with the US/Canada Joint Certification Program. For information on becoming certified, see www.dlis.dla.mil/jcp. Restricted technical data will not be forwarded to a contractor who has not been certified. A copy of the Certified DD Form 234 5 is required to be submitted in order to receive the drawings. All contractors who provide goods/services to the Department of Defense (DOD) must be registered in the Central Contractors Register (CCR). If you are not registered in CCR, you cannot be aw arded a DOD Contract. You may register via the Internet at http://www.ccr.gov. Interested firms are invited to submit proposals after the solicitation is posted to the web. It will be the responsibility of the contractors to check these websites for the issuance and any changes to the solicitation.
