About this award

This is a firm fixed-price delivery order awarded by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Joint Munitions Command to Aleut World Solutions, LLC, a minority-owned and small disadvantaged business, for remediation work at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola in Florida. The $357,840.29 contract requires the contractor to use Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM) methodology to develop a survey plan and conduct required remediation of an area potentially contaminated with radium-226 piping from a former radium paint facility. The remediation site extends from Site 27 to Manhole K7. The final status survey report for this activity will be included with a health risk assessment for various radiological sites at NAS Pensacola.

Description

The performance work statement (PWS) details required support to remediate an area from the northern boundary of site 27 to manhole K7 at NAS pensacola, FL. Site 27 is located approximately 150 feet west of building 780 and bounded by farrar and murray roads on the south and west, respectively. The remediation site extends from the site 27, phase II area in a NNW direction, approximately 180 FT to manhole K7. The site is potentially contaminated with piping containing radium-226. The subject site is adjacent to the previous location of building 709, a radium paint facility that was demolished in 1976. All that remains of building 709 is the foundation, currently used for parking, and below grade piping which was abandoned in place. Nureg-1575, multi-agency radiation survey and site investigation manual (marssim) methodology shall be used to develop a survey plan and required remediation to demonstrate compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. The final status survey (FSS) report for this activity will be included with the health risk assessment (HRA) proposed for various radiological sites at the pensacola NAS.
