About this award
This is a firm-fixed-price delivery order awarded by NASA's Langley Research Center to Micro Craft Inc., a small business manufacturer, for the design, analysis, and fabrication of a 6% scale Aeroelastic Research Model (GWL-ARM) to test ground wind loads. The model will have two configurations - cargo and capsule - and will include provisions for 32 unsteady pressure transducers per configuration. The model structure will be approximately 85% common between the two configurations, with the upper 15% unique to each. This delivery order is under the Reliance Consolidated Models IV (RECOM IV) multiple-award IDIQ contract, which is a total small business set-aside. The contract has a ceiling value of $325,897 and a completion date of June 30, 2017.
Description
""title: design and fabrication of the ground wind loads model the contractor shall complete the design, analysis, and fabrication of the wind loads model-aeroelastic research model (GWL-arm). The contractor shall design the model to be pedestal mounted. The mounting pedestal is considered part of the model and will be designed, analyzed, and fabricated by the contractor. The contractors design of the launch vehicle portion of the model shall include protuberances for each of the two configurations, cargo and capsule. Some protuberances may be used for both configurations. The contractor shall design the model with provisions for thirty-two (32) unsteady pressure transducers for each configuration. The contractor shall design the model to allow for testing of two primary configurations, cargo and capsule. Approximately eighty-five (85) percent (lower portion) of the model structure will be common for the two configurations. The upper approximately fifteen (15) percent of the model with be unique to each configuration. A joint will be design at this point to allow relatively easy changes between the two configurations. The model will have a length (geometric) scale of six (6)-percent of full-scale.
