About this award

This federal contract was awarded by the Langley Research Center, a civilian agency, to The Aerospace Corporation, a non-profit Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). The $174,097 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is for The Aerospace Corporation to provide technical expertise to the Commercial Crew Program (CCP) Verification and Validation (V&V) Integration and Mapping Assessment team. The goal is to evaluate the adequacy of the CCP's V&V planning, the V&V planning of Boeing and SpaceX (the CCP partners), and the integration and flow of V&V implementation between the CCP and the partners using a model-based systems engineering approach. This assessment will help identify gaps in the traceability of requirements to the commercial partners. The contract is not set-aside and is associated with a larger $709 million IDIQ contract The Aerospace Corporation holds with NASA to provide specialized engineering, evaluation, and test services across NASA's human spaceflight, science, and technology initiatives.

Description

" commercial crew program (CCP) verification and validation (v & v) integration and mapping to identify gaps and areas for improvement " - the scope of this effort is for the contractor to provide technical expertise to the CCP v & v integration and mapping assessment team which will assist the team in the evaluation of the CCP's v & v planning to understand (1) whether the CCP-level planning approach is adequate, (2) whether the two partners' (i.e., boeing and spacex) v & v planning response is adequate, and (3) determine whether the integration and flow of the v & v implementation between CCP and the two partners are adequate by using mapping via model-based systems engineering (mbse). The assessment will include a series of analyses of v & v adequacy and reports that coincide with boeing's and spacex's design certification reviews (DCR). The assessment will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of the mbse approach and the ability for the team to identify gaps in the traceability of requirements to the commercial partners.
