Description

"" other functions: 1. Task order title: advanced aircraft conceptual design and development 2. Purpose, objective, and background of work: background advanced aircraft concepts, both manned and unmanned, are being pursued that require vehicle developmental research, and sub-scale demonstration of key enabling technologies. Tasks are outlined that will provide improved capability through the conceptual design of transformational flight vehicles, and fabrication and testing of sub-scale prototypes with specific efforts into enabling technologies such as electric vertical takeoff and landing, quiet flight, and advanced control system algorithms. Research objectives the objectives of this research are to: design, develop, and fabricate an electric propulsion control for a multi-samara vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) concept. Develop an analysis methodology for distributed electric aircraft, with analysis of a baseline and advanced concept. Develop analysis methods and results relating to reimar mission concepts, as well as calibration data from sub-scale tests. Develop control system algorithms for a tiltwing reimar mission concept. 3. Description of the work to be performed: the contractor shall perform the following tasks. The contractor shall perform the following subtasks to conduct research supporting conceptual aircraft concepts that demonstrate the potential to achieve unique benefits over existing configuration solutions. This research shall demonstrate the following benefits: unmanned aircraft concepts that achieve VTOL capability with robust transition, ultra-low noise and low power loiter cruise requirements. New analysis methods specific to distributed electric propulsion concepts. Sub-scale test data and analysis of long endurance VTOL uavs. New methods of control for a tiltwing VTOL aircraft that can provide robust transition characteristics to distributed electric propulsion capabilities. 3.1 design, develop, and fabricate electric propulsion control for the DOS samara (http://WWW.youtube.COM/watch?V=W0AWUGNVZHO) VTOL UAV concept. 3.1 distributed hybrid electric aircraft design analysis methods 3.2 long endurance VTOL UAV development 3.3 tiltwing control system algorithm development
