Description

"" other functions: 1. Task order title: development of multiband radiometer models and algorithms 2. Purpose, objective, and background of work to be performed: the objective of this task is to enable key future measurements for NASA aviation safety program, atmospheric environment safety technologies project, airborne hazard sensing (AHS) and mitigation, lidar and electro-optical element by designing, testing, and optimizing models for UV and IR multiband radiometers. Particular emphasis is planned on measuring aviation hazards such as wake vorticies, turbulence, in-flight icing, XX and volcanic ASH. Other potential XX customers for radiometer model technology include the national oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA), department of defense (DOD), and federal aviation administration (FAA). 3. Description of the work to be performed: the contractor shall perform the following task requirements: 3.1 the contractor shall perform theoretical calculations, operate computer software, and perform numerical simulations in the areas of UV and IR radiometer algorithm and modeling. Specification of UV and IR wavelengths, wavelength optimization, and radiometer performance characterization are as provided by TM. The contractor shall collaborate with the TM in the enhancement of existing algorithms and models including algorithm validation and functional model testing. 3.2 the contractor shall identify radiometer performance parameters that would impact detection of kinetic air hazards to include wake vortices, turbulence, volcanic ASH, and icing atmospheres. These hazardous atmospheres exist in databases to be provided by the TM. In particular, identification of model parameters that are "representative" of existing radiometers by investigating the areas of UV and IR optical filter responses, UV and IR sensor responsivities, and overall radiometer model response. 3.3 the contractor shall develop a five channel IR imaging radiometer simulator with the five bands to be specified by NASA larc. The contractor shall demonstrate operation of the simulator including all mathworks matlab scripts, other source code, and compilation scripts.
