About this award

This is a task order awarded under the Specialized Engineering, Evaluation and Test Services (SEETS) contract (NNJ11HB94C) held by The Aerospace Corporation, a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC). The task order (NND15AB65T) was issued by the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) to support the Flight Opportunities Program (FOP) in evaluating the commercialization viability of emerging suborbital reusable and small satellite launch systems. The $199,696 task order continues the use of The Aerospace Corporation's expertise to assist NASA FOP in advancing the suborbital and orbital market. This is a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract with a period of performance through November 30, 2016. The contract does not have a set-aside designation.

Description

Task order no. NND15AB65T evaluation of commercialization viability for suborbital reusable and small satellite launch systems to facilitate evaluation of commercialization viability of emerging suborbital reusable and small satellite launch systems, the flight opportunities program (FOP)is tasking the AEROSPACE corporation to provide expertise and assistance with evaluating the commercialization and business plans of space technology mission directorate (STMD) investment opportunities with U.S. Industry. The FOP is attempting to help foster a sustainable suborbital market by facilitating access to near space for a variety of users through the U.S. Commercial reusable suborbital industry. The NASA FOP office has utilized the contract with the the AEROSPACE corporation (AEROSPACE) to support IT in awarding efforts to develop the suborbital market. NASA awarded the specialized engineering, evaluation and test services (SEETS) contract (NNJ11HB94C) to AEROSPACE in april 2011 as an agency indefinite quantity indefinite delivery (IDIQ) contract that is administered by the NASA johnson space center (JSC). Most of the previous task orders issued to AEROSPACE by the NASA armstrong flight research center (AFRC) were to develop a model based on the ECO-physics of launch, for characterizing market demand for suborbital reusable launch vehicles (SRLVS) to gain market insight. The model became an integrated management decision tool that was used by NASA FOP to evaluate flight provider proposals. This task order continues the use of AEROSPACE to support FOP in advancing the suborbital and orbital market.
