Description

Table top exercise for short warning event in support of NASA HQ SMD. Planetary sciences division, near earth object program office. Members of the development team would present periodic updates during the evolution of the threat, would provide technical information consistent with what would be available at appropriate times for an actual threat, and would inject new information on public and international reactions as the threat evolves. Team members would be available to answer specific questions from exercise participants. Additional support will be considered on a case-by-case basis and the task order will be modified as deemed necessary by NASA. In support of this project and consistent with direction from exercise sponsors, aerospace will: work with NASA to develop the logistics for the tabletop exercise. This includes establishing the general flow of the exercise, the list of individuals to be invited to participate, the materials to be provided to each participant before, during, and after the exercise, the location and time of the exercise, and the basic asteroid threat scenario to be presented to the exercise participants. Lead and coordinate efforts of the experts to develop and script a complete scenario to be presented to exercise participants. Including pre-exercise materials, kick-off briefings establishing the initial conditions, and providing updates representative of updates the participants would be provided (tracking data adds new detail, etc.). Develop a list of available worldwide launch vehicles with appropriate capabilities, appropriate launch sites, and estimates of issues, preparation time, etc., required to make launch vehicles available for use. Participate in and lead the exercise. Coordinate support (both on-site and call-in) during the exercise provided by experts. Keep a record of the questions asked by participants, the information requested, and other details as the exercise progresses. Prepare a summary of the exercise and information learned from the exercise that will be provided to participants within 30 days of the end of the exercise. Travel for two aerospace employees for two nights each to washington, D.C. To conduct tabletop exercise (exercise planning meetings will be held via telecom).
